I found my place in the crack between a rock and a willow tree Swinging like baby Tarzans While mom cut the grass by Grandma's trailer Willow limbs snapping in our hands By Gerber daisies picked for a third grade teacher Who lived in a trailer too Mom's hair in a ponytail to hide the perm Because Jesus didn't approve Grandma's beliefs were unmoved by 90's do's Ask Him to come into your heart Up a tiny ladder to the burgundy velveted attic Turned over and over like a Lego man Smoothed by years into a kernel of yellow light Recognized in others amidst the blight The hemlock blight of '95 Was more than the forest could survive The rock island on Boone's Fork trail Blessed with that trailer feel for a spell Years in between discontent and unbelonging Pearlized Lego Jesus glinting Light soaking into the velveted walls Waiting for Understanding's call
