We were promised change during the election. We were promised it hundreds of times. Thinking it would be different to austerity We had known for the last fourteen years We voted for it in large numbers. And the party who promised this change reneged Immediately after being elected. A black hole in finances emerged apparently, and this meant that difficult decisions had to be made, apparently. And it became apparent who would bear the burden. The winter fuel allowance given to pensioners Would have to go, as would personal independent payments to the disabled who would be deemed able to work, apparently. And overseas aid would be cut because the black hole demanded it, apparently.
