“What a way to start a Monday!” Said the lady As she lowered the binoculars from her eyes We had just watched- or tried to watch The sea otter make its way From our side of the river to the other With a stop at the island in the middle of the river To check out the nest And see if there are any snacks To the dismay of the gulls who are yelling from upon the wing At the otter to find breakfast somewhere else And me and the lady with the binoculars Enjoying our Monday morning Before going to find our own breakfasts
