My entire life I was told something, That girls were a different species, That they pull you into traps, That a devil hides under a mask. And for a long time, I believed it. I thought they were all the same. Until I met you. You’re not what they warned me about. You’re not a devil under a mask. You’re an angel without one. I’ve seen you in every state... Angry, sad, betrayed, happy, overwhelmed, tired, energetic. And in every version of you, You were still good. Still pure. Still you. You didn’t trap me, You didn’t break me, You protected me. And maybe my mistake was this, I saw your kindness and thought The world must be full of people like you. I forgot that you’re not like everyone. You’re not just someone I met. You’re something heaven sent into my life At the exact time I needed saving. And even when I fell into the traps I was warned about, You were still the one who came back, Picked me up, And put me under your wings. You protected me. You’re not just a girl. You’re not just someone I love. You are my girl. And on my life, I will always protect you.
