At first
it felt like
any other day
the normal
pleasantries
But then
I realized
I was not
pretending
Like the mask
had dissolved
And there I was
standing before you
honest
and unguarded
waiting
for the moment
I would need
to pull it back on
But you didn’t
turn away
You stayed
and in that stillness
something in me
