God was never loud
we made Him echo for us.
When courage trembled,
we wrapped our fear in prayer.
Ignorance wore incense and called itself devotion.
And sloth lay still,
naming its stillness surrender.
We carved excuses into altars and bowed to them.
In the silence between action and consequence,
we whispered, “It was His will.”
And thus the sin was ours,
but the halo was borrowed.
