We walked along the paths of Pahalgam, holding hands, mesmerized by the scenery. I was thinking how I'd always remember this, being here, in the Paradise on Earth, laughing with the light of my life. Little did we know that tragedy was lurking behind us. A few men appeared in front us, "Are you Muslim?" He asked my husband— — and before we could complete our words, he pulled out his gun and fired at him. Bullets pierced through his heart that I've known only for two months. I froze, watching my world collapse, my dreams were turned to ashes— — and all it took was a firing gun aimed at the only one I ever loved. One by one the terrorists killed— Someone's son, someone's husband, someone's father. Gunshots echoed even after they left. I dropped onto the grass next to my lifeless husband, and for a moment, I saw his soul leave his body his arms reaching out to me for one last embrace. Amidst the tears that streamed down my cheeks, an inextinguishable fire lingered in my eyes.
