From the moment a girl is born to a conservative family, disappointment surrounds the air 'Why is it a girl and not a boy? Who will protect us now? Who will provide for us now?' And I bite my tongue, and swallow my rage People struggle to have kids, they lose their kids to death And then we have people who **** their babies mercilessly, all because they wanted a boy It's a man's world, indeed, where women who fought back, and women who became leaders were burned at the stake, accused of being witches But why, they're right, those women were witches and we are their daughters We have the glint of vengeance in our eyes and in our hearts One in three women is the reincarnation of a woman who was wronged, abused, who came back to set ablaze the society that murdered her A girl is a wildfire From the moment she is born, from the moment she is devalued, from the moment she starts breathing, she lights up like an indestructible flame that fights back on her own, and never bows her head A girl is a wildfire She's born for a reason and she'll conquer all she can to show how powerful a woman can be A girl is a wildfire She breaks down the walls of misogyny and patriarchy, brick by brick, one by one, and she stays the centre of her world A girl is a wildfire With shuddering voice, with tears in her eyes, with a lump in her throat, with a trail of blood running down her leg, she will scream the truth, and she will bring herself justice for what all she had to suffer in the hands of men She will stand up for the women and the men who are wounded by the patriarchy that prevails A girl is a wildfire, she's the daughter of a witch, and she's the divine power on earth
