I’m writing today to tell you how much I miss you It makes me realize how long it’s been since we last spoke So much time has passed, yet my heart is still just as broke I don’t want to forget you with every passing year So I’ll hold on to the feel of your tight embrace while I shed every single tear I can still feel your hand in mine while we prayed And how it always shook I would open my eyes and look at our feet, my small ones next to yours I didn’t know that they carried the weight of the world I remember how you loved music and knew every song How you would sing in the car even if all the lyrics were wrong The way you sat on the couch is ingrained in my mind Just like the hole in my heart that you left behind So I’ll forever miss the pieces that made you who you are And how when I needed you, you were never very far So I’ll pray tonight and imagine your hand holding mine tight While you remind me not to give up my fight

Dear Papa,
I’m writing today to tell you how much I miss you It makes me realize how long it’s been since we last spoke So much time has passed, yet my heart is still just as broke I don’t want to forget you with every passing year So I’ll hold on to the feel of your tight embrace while I shed every single tear I can still feel your hand in mine while we prayed And how it always shook I would open my eyes and look at our feet, my small ones next to yours I didn’t know that they carried the weight of the world I remember how you loved music and knew every song How you would sing in the car even if all the lyrics were wrong The way you sat on the couch is ingrained in my mind Just like the hole in my heart that you left behind So I’ll forever miss the pieces that made you who you are And how when I needed you, you were never very far So I’ll pray tonight and imagine your hand holding mine tight While you remind me not to give up my fight
