will we remember the shades of grey the days not smiled of our youth? will we always place those memories by the river sunburned daisy days? that soft tinsel laughter of trees blending a symphony of frogs and crickets echoes of twinkling Vermont skies coming from the dust made us stronger than most it's the people you break who know you the best was it those hard times that brought us closer? climbing into each others bedroom windows our mutual need to be saviors sharing secrets that swept the dust off our souls all we needed in the world was a cup of coffee, an afternoon, a conversation the feeling of crunching leaves, big squishy sweaters those everyday hugs that were furiously important you gave me everything so so carefully i loved you so so carefully you died of a heart attack onstage better to burn out than to fade away as we once agreed when young and life ahead of us in love with all the complexities we were all the contradictions that would later burn us tear us apart and compartmentalize us once upon a time, in the kingdom of Marlboro i loved you so fiercely i forgot myself lost you because of it, and never found us ever again... i don't always place us by the shiny river i do remember the gray days of us i don't mind... i miss you... forgive me
