Raindrops They patter On the roof On the sidewalk In the soil On the nightwatch Making noise In the backdrop See the runoff Through the soil Freshly toiled In turmoil Into the stream as it trickles away Joining the spring with fishes in sway A bumbling bubbling brook hidden within groves A pond or a lake where birds flock in droves Next comes the river so close Fast and wide and majestic Powerful and destructive With its floods Wider and slower it gets Till at the lagoon it rests And empties into the sea The vast and glorious sea Where lay sharks and lobsters and other species Whom also in the ocean seek solace Within 75 percent of Earth's surface Waving and turning with the currents Influenced by the wind moving in torrents Carrying moisture and humidity Pooling the vapour like a community Flocking and gathering Cooling and rising Condensing Clouding the sky As the days go by Cirrus, stratus, cumulus Or dreaded Cumulonimbus Stirring winds and sparks and treetops Round and round the cycle goes From the river to the sea to the river once more Raindrops They patter Little by little Or in torrents like a storm In a pond or a river To the sea through motion Little drops of rainfall Little condensation Make the giant lakes And the mighty ocean From the river to the sea to the river once more Go the salmon and the waters Cycle of migration sure The cycle of water endures Raindrops They patter
