...to keep me from wasting money on more? (sonnet #MMMMMMMMMDCCCLXXXVIII) Sleep like a guilty pup, as if defense Can not exist, cuz last night I threw bail Out on its ear, and told it to avail Some other soul, cuz I would party thence. Let dawn unveil a frozen scene whose sense Of aught is purely solid, that detail I'd thought to serve for breakfast in betrayl Not worth the effort, and but mere pretense. The cardboard toy they tore to bits in tour, And seemed to love, is boring now. They view It with no appetite for play as twere. The things not sold as toys are what now woo And pique their int'rest. Guess to buy more's poor; I'll save my pence. Oh LORD, save us, won't You? 14Dec25b

Dang! I sincerely believed they loved this stupid cardboard toy. They don't. It looks nearly pristine a week later.
