Leggero (Italian for "light")
a concept, most commonly it describes a light or nimble quality in music or fashion, essentially, the word means "light," "nimble," or "gentle" in Italian, applying to different contexts like feeling light, being musically delicate, or even a product name

*you gift me delicious morsels,
bocconcini preziosi e sapori colorati in una lingua sconosciuta,
bejeweled bites and colored tastes in language unfamiliar,
invoking your inalienable, amicable right to
commission my cravings to compose,
an early morning challenge to wet my eyes,
thus refreshed, seek out perspectives head on versus
my damaged heart,
that lay dormant, unnoticed, trapped beneath the rocks
of the running waters that conjoin the blood of my
genetic inheritance and long term memories*
*you salute the leggero quality of my poetry,
and I wonder, if that merely reflects the underlying
avoidance of the seriousness of life’s inherent
contra~in|sanities,
in a week of tragic mass murderings,
which affects my vision,
tears that block any lightness of clarity,
and an all too human avoidance
of the hate that bubbles over the black kettle.
almost liquidating the fire that heats the heart
and boot blackens my*
esprit de corps
*the insight inside is clouded over, now shrouded,
and the leggero flees to Rhode Island,
and to Bondi Beach,
where it is more desperately needed,
though swamped by the helplessness,
the hopelessness of random irrational hate,
nothing new here, other than
hate still tastes so good for too many*
know this,
my poetry friends,
i miei amici poeti,
my lightness has escaped,
floated skywards,
and the light of our memory candles gives us steady wisps of
unwrapped accompaniment of mourning dark smoke,
in the modest hope that
this spawn of hate
will be
at least
the last
of this year,
summa finalis huius anni horribilis
the final tally of this horrible year
and we **** the killings
dayenu!^
