In shackles Iron, steel shackles I strain, but my heart beats Beats, thudding through the chains Enforces them And in the dark, damp room I just want light, flooding That beautiful, hypnotising light Flooding into the room But a slim hope is always Always better than none I hold back, I look The door sometimes creaks open, then thuds shut Or maybe it’s all me I’m going crazy I just want to open that door

That closed door
In shackles Iron, steel shackles I strain, but my heart beats Beats, thudding through the chains Enforces them And in the dark, damp room I just want light, flooding That beautiful, hypnotising light Flooding into the room But a slim hope is always Always better than none I hold back, I look The door sometimes creaks open, then thuds shut Or maybe it’s all me I’m going crazy I just want to open that door
