The body language was obvious; It ended with a kiss. Instead of me fleeing Without reason— You puckered your lips; In, almost, a romantic way To say, an official, Goodbye, You said, “Take Care”, Which is worse, And I inherited Your carefree distaste for this world; It was as if you didn’t care, But you came to like me In a world so damaged; We were perfect With one little kiss at the gate; I learned to hate you When you wouldn’t say a word And words became meaningless, Because the rest of the kisses never came, Because We hate the world together, But we blame one another For the world hating our characters And the rest of the kisses never came And we blamed one another. ©2025EllenFinn

One Perfect Night

...This feels a little bit redundant; a little bit forced... ...I'll come back to this one, later...
