Hide and Seek Numb Feet Panicked eyes fixated To escape a hunger that cannot be quenched A girl’s breath like fire Her life staked to flight Black terrors to pursue her Like rabid hounds in the night On a crooked trail of blood & tears Senses excited by the scent of fear Relishing the suffering The sound of heart attack There will be no going back When the Fangs are bared bright to bite So she thought she could escape the night A quarry driven Hale & Fair to the edge of despair Like a rabbit herded Into moonlit snare Sight of life with smoke from hearth Hope blossomed from Gloom’s Looms A prayer from earth for joy’s rebirth. Howling Wind Blackened Sin A cruel fate For hunger to sate Drenched fruit sparkling like night dew Fresh to ripe for the harvest scythe Heaving Breast Frozen Rest Back against the wall Not enough to stop them all No air to even squeal A girl is forced to kneel. Cold claws gripping limbs pulled tight Pinned to ground Hope drowned Final sob for a young life robbed A spirit broken upon trembling knees Fangs stabbed deep quelling her weep Legs shaking Life draining A rabbit snatched by a cat’s bite Searing pain Wrapped by blinding pleasure A silent descent Pale eyes forever staring
