I blow out the candles on my birthday
it was a dream come true
for only a second
as I close my eyes and pretend
life is just a bit
I made a wish
it was all a big play
with a happily ever after
I made a wish on my birthday.
The next year I did the same
with yet the same wish
the wish to live
to live a full life
no more games
no more fake
or heartbreak
but of course again
it only lasted a second
I made a wish on my birthday.
Once again
the same old wish
on the same old date
I made a wish on my birthday
I close my eyes
again
and enjoy those last moments of
pretend
I made a wish
but wishes always stay wishes,
