...because youth is long since gone, of course. (sonnet #MMMMMMMMMDCCC) Oh for the easy life I used fr'intents To know, where to philosophize owned bail. Back in my father's house where that detail Of freedom and sheer girlhood owned defense, I used to dream of distant realms, pretense Full of the joys I'd sought since childhood, frail As ne success, and I could think, t'avail, Yes, truly think, though chafing at suspense. Now on my own, I can attempt in tour, Yet never reach the heights I ver'ly knew Back then, where how my father ruled in pure Love, and my mother guided all as due, Dreams what they had, we seven too, though's poor Since naught owns substance. LORD, we wait for You. 14Oct25b
