I had a dream
Talking in forevers,
dancing with my future
Dreamt the sky bluer
Dreamt autumn brighter
Dreamt the grass softer
And in this dream
I had my hopes,
I spoke them in forevers
And in this dream
The night caught up
My feet drew weary
Dancing with my future
I lost my footing
and woke
I started walking
and didn't dream
for many nights
on tree lined trails
fall leaves cut
through brittle air
striking and beautiful
I was me
and real
Talking in forevers
I was happy
and awake
but rose lenses
and red eyes
gave way to sleep
And I dreamt
Autumn truly bright
once more
and under trees
through falling leaves
I screamed
You should know better
than to talk
in forevers.
