From the first breath my life has set a path.
To one day disappear from this earth.
And though I don't wish ever to depart.
Each man knows they must die alone
Some say this fact makes life a wasteful farce.
Whatever joys are outweighed by its pain.
Your name and deeds will be forgot in histories past
Nor body, nor your shadow will remain.
And yet, I'm thankful to have lived and face the dark
The pending doom, as far as I can stand
And spit in the face of my rotten luck
As a wolf howling at the moon to bend.
What mystery unfolds beyond?
Some claim to know, but none can state as fact
Perhaps this comforts some, even a chance unknown
Is none the less a fact not set in stone,
But no will or belief will shake you from the path
Remember, that each man must die alone
