Tall quills
Suiting ink wells
Scribing words beneath candle
Signing treaty’s
Secured with wax
The Magna Carta
The Declaration of Independence
Momentous things
But these are simple feathers
Collected for aesthetics
For smudging
For connection
For reasons other than to write
