You built me castles, high in shifting sand, With golden gates and spires that scraped the blue. Each word you spoke, a brick held in your hand, Each smile a window framing something true. But truth was just a trick of light and air, A fragile dream wrapped tight in velvet lies. I danced through halls that led to empty stare, Not seeing cracks disguised in grand disguise. I hung my hope on walls that couldn’t stand, Draped trust like curtains in your crooked halls. I never asked who drew the master plan, Or saw the signs scrawled deep beneath the walls. Now rubble sings where royalty once dined— You built me castles, and I moved in blind.
