When I first read this, I thought it was about a jump off a cliff into a river or ocean. I read it again and caught the small print. Powerful and easy to emphasize with.

The poem is incredibly powerful and moving.  The simple language amplifies the feeling of helplessness and regret. I felt a deep sense of empathy.  The repetition of 'I couldn't jump' is devastatingly effective. The ending is particularly heartbreaking.  The simplicity leaves such a strong lingering feeling. The use of enjambment creates a sense of breathlessness and urgency, mirroring the speaker's internal state. The structure of the poem, with its parallel phrasing and final repetition, is both elegant and effective. Inspired... Keep up the great work man!
