He was bleak and dark But benevolent and special She greeted and made a spark Bringing light for him to nestle She warmed his life And he cooled hers There was never a strife Thought forever occurs He promised stars But smoke veiled her rays. She felt behind bars As he went back to his alone ways Now she rises, he descends, Loving but couldn't together be in it This is how the world tends So neither one can admit That she still burns, and he still wanes But neither look the other way Even when one rains They are stained far away

Shadowing the Shine
He was bleak and dark But benevolent and special She greeted and made a spark Bringing light for him to nestle She warmed his life And he cooled hers There was never a strife Thought forever occurs He promised stars But smoke veiled her rays. She felt behind bars As he went back to his alone ways Now she rises, he descends, Loving but couldn't together be in it This is how the world tends So neither one can admit That she still burns, and he still wanes But neither look the other way Even when one rains They are stained far away
This poem uses the symbolism of the sun and moon resembling a relationship that has failed due to smoking, and the relationship remains separated.
