Love will cut like a samurai sword 
Like a ninja warrior in broad daylight, 
It will hurt and may scar you for life.
It's not true that love shouldn't ever hurt,
The hurting just shouldn't be in vain. 
Hurt in vain, is suffering.
And who the f….has time for that?

I&#8217;ve thought about this, rather almost it by it my friend for this last week, and it all true what you&#8217;ve written, down to a letter&#8230; and you know you can trust me maybe above all others that I know loss, I have scars, but I&#8217;ve finally made a sort of peace with your poem, and my life as I&#8217;ve come to this conclusion that as you wrote &#9997;&#65039; of in vain vs. not in vain&#8230; and scared now because I don&#8217;t want to disagree and turn my TF a good friend even if we don&#8217;t have much contact, I consider you a trusted confidante, and I don&#8217;t want to ruin that even if it&#8217;s in sharing my truth&#8230;

But I think you would tell me that even at the risk of great loss you can&#8217;t stop living, and that includes sharing your truth unabashedly, I&#8217;m sure you&#8217;d tell me something of that dirt at least&#8230; and here is the truth I&#8217;ve found reading this poem of yours over and over again.

If in vain means a love that pulls the carpet of sanity out from under your feet as someone you thought you&#8217;d indubitably share a lifetime together, what led left of mine, then even in vain is worth it&#8230; though I think you meant &#8220;in vain&#8221; perhaps in a different sense.

And my final analysis, the truth that slowly grew in body, mind, heart and spirit all four, thinking back over a lifetime of loves lost, for all loves at least on one side of the relationship equation ate eventually lost except on those rare and almost sweet occasions when an elderly couple die within minutes of each other (and I used to do home service, thank is as a Catholic aid deliver the Eucharist to shut ins, but it was very much also about spending a morning or afternoon with a handful (we have several high rise extended care living homes that made this east for me), I&#8217;ve seen it a number of times with my own eyes &#128064;.

Ok, yes, my final analysis, and only speaking for myself and my owlet heart: every woman I&#8217;ve ever lived has left a scar upon my heart, but perhaps very surprising (or perhaps not surprisingly at *all*), every single one has left a scar upon my heart, and the surprise to me in recollecting is that all the best loves left the biggest scars&#8230; and after a whollleeee lot of reflection I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;d want it any other way. The pain of their loss makes them just that much more precious in my memory.

Sorry Edmund that I wrote so much, and perhaps to write or get across much less than the volume of my letters would appear, but I hope you understand and why I wanted to share this with you&#8230; who maybe gets it, too.
