Consider these 2 poems, both of which are examples of divine simplicity

A Poison Tree (Blake)

I was angry with my friend;&#160;
I told my wrath, my wrath did end.
I was angry with my foe:&#160;
I told it not, my wrath did grow.&#160;

And I waterd it in fears,
Night & morning with my tears:&#160;
And I sunned it with smiles,
And with soft deceitful wiles.&#160;

And it grew both day and night.&#160;
Till it bore an apple bright.&#160;
And my foe beheld it shine,
And he knew that it was mine.&#160;

And into my garden stole,&#160;
When the night had veild the pole;&#160;
In the morning glad I see;&#160;
My foe outstretched beneath the tree.


Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening (Frost)

Whose woods these are I think I know.&#160;&#160;&#160;
His house is in the village though;&#160;&#160;&#160;
He will not see me stopping here&#160;&#160;&#160;
To watch his woods fill up with snow.&#160;&#160;&#160;

My little horse must think it queer&#160;&#160;&#160;
To stop without a farmhouse near&#160;&#160;&#160;
Between the woods and frozen lake&#160;&#160;&#160;
The darkest evening of the year.&#160;&#160;&#160;

He gives his harness bells a shake&#160;&#160;&#160;
To ask if there is some mistake.&#160;&#160;&#160;
The only other sound&#8217;s the sweep&#160;&#160;&#160;

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,   
But I have promises to keep,&#160;&#160;&#160;
And miles to go before I sleep,&#160;&#160;&#160;
And miles to go before I sleep.

Well, there's nothing in the concept of minimalism or simplicity which necessarily implies safety. For example, it's very hard to be at once simple and deep, while it's easier to be complicated without actually saying much. I've noticed that people are often complicated because they're either confused or want to conceal banality/triviality. Boldness and simplicity are not mutually exclusive. Read the Tao Te Ching: it's minimalist in style, yet it's one fo the deepest books ever.
