Almost everyone tells me
If you are driving
a homeless person comes up to the window
asks for help with a sad face or shows you a sign
don't help
Because ninety-nine out of a hundred people use
money to buy drugs or use alcohol badly
so don't give it to them
I thought so too at first
But one in a hundred really use
one dollar to wipe away
hunger,
cold,
and tears.
What would I do if it was the person
the person I inadvertently passed by.
