he was out in the rain
on the field
under the lights.
i was in the stands
watching with tears in
my eyes
and a smile
on my face
because i just knew
after he had caught the ball,
hit the ground,
ran back to the sidelines,
and highfived his teammates,
he smiled
and thought about
me.
