When full mouthed leers
At diner tables
Traveled like coated wire cables,
Through dark and red
To sleep stricken fables
Undermining objective labels
Drawing self-chuckling grins
At the hands of limbs
Of fortunes grave and grim,
I gave in
And sank inhaling
With all within reach and sight
Spinning and failing
Abandoned apparent right
For what I thought was new beginning
With you.
