You're walking down the boulevard Hands in your pocket, head down toward the sidewalk Wet and shiny with summer rain It's not quite forgotten, or figured out Certainly not forgiven, so you freeze a moment You feel the brick in your gut all over again And keep walking as you try to think of something else But it is not as easy to try to escape The songs, the rhymes, the smells, the mirage Wonder why you wasted your time You're walking down the boulevard Hands in your pocket, head down toward the sidewalk Wet and shiny with summer rain It's not quite sound, not quite relieved Certainly not a distant memory You feel it's just like yesterday And keep walking as you try to think of something else But it's easier said than done The red, biting, foolish, falling in love.
