Every poet, and that is every person who expresses from inside himself or herself, should see Apple TV's series on the poet "Dickinson". I confess that I was surprised and, in a sense comforted, by the insight that the need for approval, for publication, for anybody to read and say "this is good" enslaves the poet, makes him or her an addict. 

I was relieved to know that it is an addiction shared by many, comforted that I was not alone, but I realize that, like all addictions, it must be abandoned, it must not be master, for no matter how good we become, we will never need enough.

While I need to be followed and read, too, I must not let the need make me sad. 

I wish you well, dear Britany. I pray your words sing.

sometimes this site can be glitchy and even though people are liking and commenting its doesn't even show. Sometimes your poems wont even show up anywhere.

Hey, you don't need people to like your stuff for you to enjoy it. Keep writing and sharing and people will follow. Don't give up. I have been writing since I was seven years old and no one cared until I wrote a lot and shared it with more people.

If you're looking for honest feedback, I find it to be rare (most people here give either glowing reviews or nothing at all). But if you give it to other people, others might pay more attention to your writing... maybe.

Writing comments and pressing &#8220;send&#8221;
Makes you believe you&#8217;re the &#8220;Mr. Action&#8221;
What you don&#8217;t get on the other hand
It&#8217;s actually nothing but total distraction
 
It&#8217;s like shackles or addictive drugs
Can&#8217;t get rid of it, like a bad hoodoo
You need LIKES more than you need HUGS
Besides, you need them right away, too
 
Swiping and clicking. New forms of caresses
A heart is less needed than a mobile device
It is the real you that a screen replaces
A sad way of saying it clear and concise
