I wasted so much, Reviving a wilted flower, I lost myself, My confidence, Now, I possess no power. Beauty has succumbed, To a thousand tortured hours, My zest for life is numbed, As my heart, It cowers. This solitude Takes me nowhere, An emptiness, That leaves me bare. Lost and lonely, My devils gorge Upon one another, Strip my smile, Force me under covers. I am both slave And master, Eternally within myself, I sit calm, Watch as I rot, Shed a lonesome tear For my health, For what I've felt, For every desire That is not. I pause for thought, What an insignificant war, To have fought.
