I Float. Floating Through all The hate that we Hear, floating through Pain and tears, yet my interior Never cracks, protected by a shell Knowing that I am untouchable, so why Am I scared? Hearing the voices, the voices Which are so loud and never quiet, they echo Through my mind and in my dreams. Impossible To shake, although I try. I want to scream and yet The moment I open my mouth, my beauty vanishes. You would rip from me the only thing that provides Me with individuality and then mould me to fit rings So that I may run in circles and question myself So that I never realise that this shape society Has moulded me into is not who I am, but That who I am is beautiful and unique My voice is silenced and Yet yours is heard. Why would you leave me to float as a single drop in this ocean?

Inspired by a person in my life, Maisie, which originates as meaning 'Pearl' hence the inspiration for this poem.
