The cacophony of hatred, These words, not sacred, They fill me with loathing, My memories not holding, All this positivity. It slips; away from me. I can not, I will not, Be a puppet to your thought, That somehow my voice Should not rejoice, The rope around what I choose, Will be a guide, not a noose. You need to know I love me, I love everything I see. I love my heart; my heartbeat, My toes, on my feet, I love my rainbow-coloured soul, Everything that makes me whole. I’m here; I’m queer, And I will NOT disappear, At least not due to fear.

Today I was quite offended to hear some homophobic slur thrown at me which is where the inspiration for this came from almost as a fightback towards homophobes and everyone who discriminates to show that we will not be silenced and we will still love ourselves and the pride we feel.
