I know it doesn't take into account the pollution they create but I find airplanes aesthetically pleasing.  We can circumnavigate the globe in days.  Before the airplane it took months, even years.  It's  too bad that so many of our inventions have negative repercussions.  I fear our developing anachronism will be the death of us.
