Winter declared a time out in the middle of her gloom Today is warm enough to have been the first of June The sweats come off and jeans and light shirts the order of the day, Pardon me, but I sort of hope Miss Winter a while stays this way. For I have lots to do and many errands to run The previous cold connections make it hard to get them done. But this, oh glorious summer day Holds portents of fires in later summer on the way. And that, my friends, is what happened mid last year, When I took off in a hurry, betrayed by my own fear; The allergies to smoke bred by fires near Before it happens again, I want to get out of here! So Miss Winter, stay away while I get packed, When I'm gone, it's best if you should come right back. The residents will thank you, and that's a fact. As for me, I'll have jumped and gone on to another track.
