For so long I foolishly Accepted all the promises “Like you and me, baby its true love it's meant to be! He'd tell me "Have faith in me Our life will improve”. Yet he couldn’t be The man he insisted on making me believe. The lies he spouted Of how good it’ll be, 2.4 kids, 2 cars, normality- So stupid of me to believe. I think if I’m honest to myself Right from the start, I could see Just how empty and dishonest His words would always be. But my desire to be a part Of something bigger than just me Clouded my vision, Influenced my decisions. Kept me loyal, his possession. Those 14 years, I followed the fallacy On and on dumb and blinded, In my own world of fantasy. Keeping the house, Raising our family Whilst all of these years living in poverty! He didn’t become the man He promised he'd be. A proud man looking after me! Working, earning, paying bills. Not signing on, still being a ***
