What is a person without their shadow? Just a passing shape, Leaving no indentation, As if they weren’t even there. Shadows twist and distort, Showing a frightening version of you, With gangly legs and pointed fingers. But the same can be said about the shade of a tree, Though dark and looming, Shielding you on a sunny day.
