hearing your heart beat over again
in this bleak hospital room
reminds me of all the reasons I should stay,
to see you grow up, to see your first steps,
but the loud growing voice, that sounds so much like Her’s
brings me back to the ground and
reminds me of all the reasons I need to leave instead.
a burden
to a family that never knew how to love me.
i hope they’ll learn to love you for all your flaws and in the end.
i know i will.
