Once upon a time Long, long ago An old man taught me a word Honor And he ain't here no longer But those words he said... Boy, you be a good man And I want you to sit here And understand Take care of your family, Love your woman Be a good, God fearin' man Above all, Don't you forget to stand On your own two feet There ain't nothin' wrong With feeling tired and beat But I want you to sit here And understand There ain't nothin' better Than being a good, old-fashioned man Use your hands Live a life that makes them rough; One day you'll know You're made of the right stuff He left me while I was away And I know I'll never get one more day To show him I'm a good man But that word, that long forgotten honor Is a part of who I am, And I won't live without it any longer So sit here boy, and let me tell you Protect your family, love your woman You can't go wrong With those rough hewn hands As long as you're a good, honest, just Honorable man
