Plato said that the course of knowing about the world is first music/sound, then philosophy, then physics.  These will show you how the world works and find the hidden meanings of creation.  Also, if you don't have money for school, in India the highest scholar is the one how teaches themselves. It's quite hard to see others advancing in school, but if you have patience...
