one pine tree
resplendent in symmetry
another year at home
on her snowbound slope..
apparently not destined
not this year
for light display
with sacrificial death..
roots still grounded
and a treetop pointing
to bright starlight above..
through a sturdy trunk
rooted sparks do flow
upward..rejoining
the glow..
