The day was young, A bright sky shown. By river's edge There lay a stone Which listened to Soft rapid's drone And wind's delightful Monotone. And all around Lay nature's own, Too soon disturbed By harsh man's tone. He swiftly came Upon such stone, 'Twas touched by flesh And cruelly thrown. The stone flew true. Its bold, smooth crest Pleased thrower well, Pride swelled his chest. At last, arm's dance Had tired guest And so he left There, unimpressed. Alone, it fell With tragic zest To timely meet Sweet blue's caress. And there was where It lay to rest: In waters deep, In waters blessed.
