I think in everyday life, where relationships are concerned, what you say may be true. I'm not sure. The dark truth is that we live with countless lies - not even aware that we're lying to ourselves! Maybe some of those lies just help us live and get out of bed in the morning. Nothing is easier than to deceive ourselves.  Yet you're right: I think it's better to be honest in our dealings with people, as a rule, because one lie typically leads to another, and another, a subsequent lie trying to cover the previous one.
