That fathomless chasm, How sheer those depths, What misery to await, To succumb this world to silence, Beneath thy voice resounds, Entranced to follow, A foregone echo, From times, All lost to long ago, Into that eerie gloom; I am swallowed, How that sweet whisper of thee abruptly cease, As depths's end is reached, And to be alone again, Where even no shadow choose to dwell, Trapped, Thy darkness my cell.

The Voice Below
That fathomless chasm, How sheer those depths, What misery to await, To succumb this world to silence, Beneath thy voice resounds, Entranced to follow, A foregone echo, From times, All lost to long ago, Into that eerie gloom; I am swallowed, How that sweet whisper of thee abruptly cease, As depths's end is reached, And to be alone again, Where even no shadow choose to dwell, Trapped, Thy darkness my cell.
