When I was ... I don't really remember, eleven or twelve years old, I had maybe my most significant spiritual experience ever while looking in a mirror. I didn't recognize myself, really; I felt like an observer ... ageless, serene, wise, looking at this kid through a pane of glass. It lasted less than a minute, but I think of it often.

Maybe that's not solipsism, but it was the very first thing I thought of while reading this. Gave me a little shiver.

this poem has me enjoying the thematic tension between reflection, vanity and privacy. you juxtapose the social with the flouting of the social...&nbsp;&nbsp;i do associate privacy with, well, bathroom mirrors: places to be alone and all. though this mirror could be anywhere one could reach with lipstick. would also be fun to see in a bus driver's mirror, heh.&nbsp;&nbsp;i'm also wondering if narcissus might have used lipstick... and if it's possible for solipsism/cosmic aloneness/self-absorption/the denial of other minds to be apart from any trace of vanity?

i don't know. but my guess is i'm not alone in thIs. :P very cool idea and very fun if you actually came across this on a mirror in a public place~ thanks for the poem!
