You use a lot of words to express your sentiment, why does the protagonist always win and the antagonist always lose? Wordiness for it's own sake merely distracts the reader.

Secondly, your insight is not particularly interesting, having become cliched even, let the underdog win? so what.

Well, besides being just plain wordy, you have a more fundamental problem. Your thesis is flawed. Antagonist/protagonist are not roles, as such, or characters in any plot. Instead, a protagonist is merely the principal character in a work of fiction, and antagonist his opponent or source of conflict. Thus, any work that focuses on the source of conflict your antagonist) merely exchanges roles, and he would be the antagonist.

Better to move your closing sentiment much earlier, that this dynamic leaves a mark on our collective consciousness, thus creating a sense of hopelessness. As a good beginner's exercise, I sometimes suggest reversing opening and closing lines, and seeing what effect that might have on a poem.
