There is strange beauty in nature Such power in these spring storms The trees are still- No quaking branches, Not even shivering leaves- Everything seems lifeless Until a flash fills the air So bright it could be a photograph ... Yet nothing follows There is no thunder, no rain Just the empty promise, A hint of what might come An odd compliment To the silent and still trees, Breathing life into every crevice With each illuminating strike

Silent Spring Storms
There is strange beauty in nature Such power in these spring storms The trees are still- No quaking branches, Not even shivering leaves- Everything seems lifeless Until a flash fills the air So bright it could be a photograph ... Yet nothing follows There is no thunder, no rain Just the empty promise, A hint of what might come An odd compliment To the silent and still trees, Breathing life into every crevice With each illuminating strike
There's been lightning for the past 10 minutes, but there's no thunder, rain, or even wind, and it inspired me to write for the first time in months
