Then I met a man
Who loved me from afar
He was my sailor
I was his mermaid
We shared secrets
We laughed
We smiled
He was my strength
My courage
My rock
Then the storm came
We held on as hard as we could
It destroyed us
Disapproval
Doubt
It turned out
We were worlds a part
And with broken hearts
We parted ways
Now I love him from a distance
The mermaid
She protects her sailor
And perhaps in another life
