I open my eyes after the longest time searching for any remnants of the light that used to brighten the corners of my soul and suddenly realise the search was in vain that the light inside kept the night outside at bay and that darkness had saturated my soul I close my eyes and beathe in the darkness focusing inwards on those dying embers using the darkness to fan their faint glow and ever so slowly start to see echoes of light softly penetrating the darkness within and a trickle of hope lingers on the horizon
